History of the company comes from 1875 when the grand father of our company's founder Kaşif Kalkavan, who interested in sea and his works on it. Kaşif Kalkavan who also shared this passion deeply and started marine management in 1945. |

This passion for the sea
got stronger with the ship of Cafer Kalkavan 1500 dwt which was built
on 1964 and 15 years later (1979) second ship with the name of Selahattin
Kalkavan was built. The family company that was stepping forward slowly and securely, since that date decided to grew up and in 1980 the ship of 3250 dwt named Kaşif Kalkavan, in 1984 the ship of 16.051 dwt named Rize - K in 1985 the ship of 3250 dwt, named İyidere - K, in 1989 the ship of 3800 dwt named Tolgam and in the same year the ship of 9.958 dwt named Nevzat Kalkavan were built. |

In 1992 the first ship for bulk toads, with 41052 dwt named Metin Kalkavan was joined to the Fleet. In 1993 the ships of smaller tonnage were sold. Instead of them, the ship of Kaşif Kalkavan with 40.010 dwt and the ship of Orkun Kalkavan with 23.960 dwt were joined to the Fleet. In the same year, the first multipurposes container ship M/V Mehmet Kalkavan (600 teu) with 12.300 dwt was built in Turkey and joined to the Fleet. In 1997, the company of TurkonLine was founded and started regular travels between U.S.A and Turkey and Mediterranean for the first time as a Turkish Container Line. |

By developments in this period, four container ships were built in Sedef Shipyard Istanbul. The first ship, Mukaddes Klakavan in July 4th 1997, the second ship Besire Kalkavan 2nd 1998, the third one Alkin Kalkavan in June 24th 1998 and the fourth one Selma Kalkavan in May 14th 1999 were delivered. These four sister ships are in the same size with 12.060 dwt and 1147 teu are in the same capacity. These new, modern and fast ships owned by the company, were hired by Turkon Line and operated between Turkon U.S.A and Turkey. As they complete each journey in 11 days, they are the fastest container line. |

which is another company, operates in Road Transportation with their
Truck Fleet of 100 vehicles. With this company of Turkon Road Transportation
Corp., Turkon Line have the opportunity to provide service fromm door
to door. Hawing the fool of enlarging their Fleet, our company bought the modernest private sector shipyard Sedef Ship Industry Corp. from STFA (in 2000) and stepped in that area, too. The company is the first and the only company operates in ship- owning, ship - building, Line management in marine sector. |

By joining Sedef Shipyard
to the group, ship building continues within the group. Turkon Line
and Turkon Road Transportation Corps. start new lines and enlarge
the Fleet continuously. Due to company's interest on different business branches, apart from shipping and transportation sector, Sandras natural spring water company is joined to the group. On August 2003 Kaşif Kalkavan Group of Companies established Turkon Holding A.Ş. With the new invesments, Turkon Holding expands it's business field. |
